Solidarity with AAPI Communities

Inclusive Action stands in solidarity with Asian, Asian American, and Pacific Islander communities who are reeling from and speaking out against the hate-driven, racist, and misogynistic murder of eight people, including six Asian women, in Georgia on March 16th.

The violence and relentless scapegoating committed against AAPI communities during the pandemic is a horrifying and direct result of the consistent and systematic violence communities of color have long endured in the United States at the hands of white supremacy.

Violent attacks against AAPI individuals and communities, especially Asian women (who are more than twice as likely to be targeted than men), must end. Anti-Asian racism, misogyny, and bigotry must end.

As an organization that serves low-income communities, Inclusive Action is committed to speaking out in support of the AAPI community, and any marginalized group suffering at the hands of white supremacy and the inequalities built into our institutions. White supremacy is a common enemy, and we know we must combat them by building authentic alliances across racial AND class lines; this is how we confront power together.

These tragedies remind us that we have to be bolder in our demands and act more urgently than ever before. While these murders may seem distant for some of us, aggressions and violence against AAPI communities happen every day. We have the power to stop violence and discrimination in all of its forms. We have the power to demand that our leaders stand up to racism and responsibly invest in our communities. We have the power to speak up and demand that our communities are cared for.

In addition to holding ourselves and our leaders accountable, we can do other things today:

  • support Asian-owned small businesses

  • report incidents to Stop AAPI Hate

  • take a bystander intervention course (you can register here),

You can also donate to any of Los Angeles’ many impactful AAPI-serving nonprofits. Here are some of them: SEACA, Thai CDC, KIWA, Little Tokyo Service Center, and the Pilipino Workers Center. Each of them works every day to support their communities in the face of violence and discrimination. We are proud to stand with them.

In solidarity,

The Inclusive Action team
